Credit, where it is due. <G> Even so, I think that even if you don't wish to
apply an input profile, your decision would have been made with the best of
colour managed intentions!

If you are able to use the Gretag DC chart, try Praxisoft's CompassCamera
(although, I don't think it works in high bit depth, and certainly not linear
capture) but does a cool job in 8 bit and also Kodak's Input Profile builder
because it offers so many target options, multiple bit depths and linear mode,
which gives the operator many ways of getting the most from camera profile
building. That is, a variety of resultant profiles for any given set of
conditions. Then all that is left, is choosing one that works best for the
job.

I have found that for the same target, shot with the same camera but run
through
a number of software packages will produce considerable differences in end
result,
some good and some unusable, but the point is when the most favourable
profile has
been chosen and applied, the results for me, are much better than with no
profile.
