Good day!
Question: Is an older Scitex flatbed scanner comparable, in overall
quality,
to a newer drum scanner for 4-color, fine-art poster?
The media scanned is 35mm slide transparency, 87.3MB, 6766 pixels tall.
I asked for a drum scan, but later found out they used a flatbed (@ $110
a pop).
My green eye tells me the small water droplets are plugged up (where
the film has specular highlights) and the scan looks a bit noisy at
100%.
I suspect part of the problem is the size of the scan, that the Scitex
over interpolated to get the 300ppi, 15x22 inch size from 35mm.
This scan has to be the best it can. Can an older Scitex flatbed handle
it
in your experience? Or should I drum scan it? I can use it 16 inches
if
22 inches is over interpolating a 35mm film.
I thank you in advance for any comment.
