So its the end of the year and my client said that they would like to get a wide format printer.
Normally I would do my typical exhaustive research but I really don't have much time till year end.
I thought the 7000 because it is in their price range and they already have two 5000 printers and I
believe that the printers use the same ink cartridges. So now would you get the rip or not. I'm
not really looking to emulate CMYK for proofing but rather getting the maximum quality from this
machine. My client is a very particular photographer and image quality is the most important
issue. So dithering and color are huge. With the 5000 I'm using the regular epson drivers and
printing from photoshop; and I'm very happy with results. However the possibility of sending a
20*30 inch print through my present workflow is scary. So is it worth the extra money for the fiery
rip? Is there a difference in print quality? What are some other solutions being presently Mac
based? I could go NT; I have the OS and would just need a box to run it on. I'm fully color
managed and have heard the fiery is troublesome to incorporate custom profiles. Is this still
true? Finally just to add to my confusion is there a better printer choice in that price range?
One more thing, were also looking at desk top viewing stations. Any suggestions?
Thanks
