A profile documents a process, and if the elements of high bit scanning are
different than those of 8 bit/channel scanning (such as setting , or not
setting, white and black points) or if the high bit files import into
Photoshop as 16 bits/channel sets these features up differntly than the low
bit version, then that will cause problems in profile application, as the
process will have been changed.
