I meant to add the above method to my original post. It, too, doesn't work.
The Adobe Gamma control panel doesn't even appear in the "Add/Remove" window.

I need to use Windows as well as Mac, with Mac being my primary imaging
platform. But I agree, problems like these make me wonder why people in
imaging want to use Windows as their main (only?) platform. (And I won't even
add a smiley face to that comment)
Anyone else have any suggestions as to how to remove the Adobe Gamma control
panel in Windows 98SE?
