I've been using PO4 for awhile now to make CMYK output profiles for
Linocolor. Works well although the Windows interface is unecessarily
futurama. yech.
that aside, what are some objective reasons to prefer one app over another?
both drive my spectroscan fine. I'm using the IT8 CMYK target; any reason
not to? I chose it because it can be used with either app.
also noticed that the Mac version of PO4 creates profiles with a different
gamut shape than the Windoze version when both are fed the same input data,
if I then use MeasureTool to compare them (maybe feeding Heidelberg profiles
into Gretag software makes for indigestion). haven't looked at the actual
numbers.
The Gretag software has some nice features that PO lacks, but I like the
black generation controls better in PO. that's about all. I have not yet
tried to use a Gretag profile in production yet (god knows it took long
enough to get Linocolor working sanely).
