Doesn't sound like you're "working together'; rather that they are refusing
to cooperate. CMYK profiles are device profiles, and moving from one to
another is problematic, and moving to a multi-ink space from there is even
worse. Typically such files move directly from a generously large RGB space
to device specific multi-ink spaces. Demand cooperation...
