For simplicity, effectiveness, and low cost, the ColorVision solutions
(www.colorcal.com) win hands down. Their ProfilerRGB is over twice as fast
and far simpler than any of the alternatives while offering results generally
considered superior. ProfilerCMYK offers all that , plus black generation and
ink controls generally only found in programs that cost thousands. DoctorPro
is the most straight forward and intuitive profile editor I've used. Their
PhotoCal monitor calibration is both the most effective and the simplest
solution I have used to date, and the Monitor Spyder that is bundled with it
is as good as an expensive puck, while costing less than the cheap ones.
Their software line is not as broad as some of the other vendors, and with
the exception of monitor calibration they are only starting to deal with the
professional market, but for beginners and consumers their solutions are the
clear winners on all counts.
