Grayscale Tiffs, Match Print Dark

Good day!

Grayscale Tiffs look dark in match print (MP), photos look like a 2.2
gamma on
a 1.8 Mac monitor.

I trust the image, the Info numbers look good in PSD 5x, and 1270 Epson
proof
looks like monitor.

Desaturated RGB Tiffs (Adobe 1998 space) originated on my Mac calibrated
at
2.2 gamma (DP-92, OptiCal), placed in Quark 4.11 document.

Color house converted 2.2 RGB Tiffs to grayscale via Image>Mode, and
burned film
on 28" Scitex.

Again, MP looks like PC gamma on a Mac (dark).
I don't know much about PostScripting or outputting film...they used a
20% dot
gain for the press.

I suspect a basic gamma issue, any ideas where the weak link may be?
Any help to provide better "picture" will be greatly appreciated.

Note: I am getting another film/MP done from same files.
This time I am requesting that they convert my 2.2 RGB Tiffs to 1.8
grayscale,
vrs the first run at 2.2 grayscale...does this sound like the problem?
