Where does one get a largish gray step wedge? I'm photographing,
scanning, and reproducing fine art, and would like more than a gray
card in the image to help me do adjustments.

You could create your own in Photoshop using the gradiant tool, and
posterizing to the number of steps desired, then have it output on a
*profiled* LightJet or Lambda...

Jan, most fine art transparencies we deal with have the standard Kodak (Agfa or Fuji) color calibration strip which includes a twelve (I think) step grayscale, CMYK, RGB, white point, black point, etc. Any Kodak (or other) rep should be able to provide you with one. Last time I bought one it ran about $35 (US). or you could do the old college trick and cut one out of a dataguide or Time/Life photography book. Their print reproduction standards used to be fair enough to fudge by.
