Ok, once again, message not posted.
Hi folks.
I want to comment some ideas regarding an advanced printer driver.
I bought a beautiful Epson Stylus Color some years ago, that shipped
with ICC profiles. The profiles where CMYK. So I started tuning that
profiles a little bit finding out that this was the only thing that the
Epson
used to get the colors. The problem with that profiles were that it
contained
the ink limit, so if you used them for previewing in your apps, it
really
looked poor.
Later Epson changed the profiles to RGB and printing got much faster.
But it was still possible to use the old CMYK profiles, as long as they
had the same name. I approved they really used the profiles by writing
my own test cmm.
Its still possible to use custom created RGB profiles, and they work
better
if you replace the original Epson profiles by ones that have the same
name,
rather than selecting them in the popup menu the driver provides.
I think that the custom tags in the Epson profiles do the ink limiting
depending
on the paper the user selects, so if that tags are missing, you dont
have any
limits at all. But Im still testing my Stylus Color 800. Im wondering if
they
still can use CMYK profiles...
