I don't think it would even be possible to have a standard profile. One
might say the colorimetric table conforms to TR001 (both in and out of
the PCS), but the perceptual table by definition is vague.
However, I think getting something going on this is important and to find
out what applications build good usable profiles in the real world for
this data set since that is the colorimetric target for TR001. And SWOP
is now based on both this colorimetric performance as well as visual
analysis (no tolerances yet that I'm aware of however).
IOW, it's a step in the right direction. I encourage all of the profile
vendors to stick TR001 through their software and make a profile
available to the public.
That is a good Idea Chris. The TR001 data is from an ANSI IT8.7/3
output target printed on press. Any profiling vendor that supports
the IT8.7/3 can build a profile from this data. I will build and post
one or two on the ProfileCity site and list the black generation
settings for them. Once done I will post the path to find them back
on this list.
