Xerox color laser copiers and the Splash RIP

I know one shouldnt really have much expectations from products like these, but i am looking for replacement of our Oce Color System 200. Splash driven Xerox solutions seems impressive in the showroom, but lotsa people have certain opinions on the Splash RIP. The Xerox bundle has been described as "the Guadalcanal of office color printing". Whatever that means?!? I would really like to get serious opinions on the bundle from people who have been there and done that.. The pantone certification of the bundle seems thrustworthy..???? My needs is something better colorwise than the OCE/CANON products that we actually can make small print runs on for clients and that some of our designers can use as a goofy( good enough) solution instead of using the proofer just to print sketches and stuff. Is this the real thing or just a mockfrog ?

The color we get from the system 200 is not really that much useable for anything and the tweaking done by the OCE gopherguys has brought us into the twilight zone of color management. Hardwarewise, the stability seems lesser than perfect. Oce service engineers have a lot more quality time with the box than we have ;-) .
