Splash RIP bug

Hmm...while we're on the subject of names and LUTs, the SPLASH folks seem to have an internal non-ICC renaming convention according to which the best intent for images is relative colorimetric after reading this List, so they name the relative colorimetric intent photographic, because that's what they think should be used for photographic rendering. Therefore, when the user chooses the photographic intent thinking visual gamut compression is on the menu card, what gets served up looks very funny, and support calls go to ICC profile builders rather than to SPLASH.

The Photoshop folks in the US who believe that relative colorimetric is the best solution for separation and for proofing, because that's what Photoshop has done until version 6, should maybe make a note of the fact that times are changing.

Rigging ICC workflows to fit buggy retouching software isn't a good idea -:).
