I should add that this software was purchased 14 months ago, and it is not

BESTColor speaks ICC and Pidgin English. PressReady and other RIPs
speak Pidgin ICC and fluent English.
As I've tried to explain before here on the List, you have to
understand the educational systems in Scandinavia and Germany, and
also the official language policies. I am explaining and not
apologizing for these people.
First of all, high school system has mathematical and linguistic
branches. Students who specialize in mathematics and physics
traditionally receive rudimentary language training only. When they
join technical universities, they learn to get by when reading
English, but they have no sense of idiom. My brother is a civil
engineer, the poor guy -:).
Secondly, while in Scandinavia all English film and TV content is
transmitted with an original English soundtrack, in Germany the
soundtrack is removed and German replaced. This means that in Germany
an English or American actor speaks German, and not English. It's the
same in Italy and France.
Compared to the average educated Danish professional, who can get by
in English, the average educated German professional simply hears
less English. So when the German manual is written, the warning bells
don't ring clear and loud the minute the first lines of English copy
pop up in the email.
And if you think it's much, much better in Denmark, then let me tell
you that while I worked in chartered translation from '85 to '91, it
was standard fare that companies made complete fools of themselves.
They still do, but in Denmark it's harder to make folks see this. I
just bought six dining room chairs, Danish Design with English labels
only. There were about ten spelling errors in as many lines of copy.
There is no problem when sending a PageMaker document with images to a
queue. They are of course contained within the document itself, and my
guess is that this is how most copies of the software are actually used, so
the problem does not normally arise.
I think you are asking for a feature that is printer firmware. If I
proof out of LinoColor, QuarkXPress or some other application, then
on a single sheet printer the whole sheet is used. For job nesting I
have to manually assemble images and fit them into the format.
If I proof to a roll-fed printer like the bigger HP DesignJets, then
the printer has a harddisk and a job nesting function. I set a timer
(say one hour), and tell the printer firmware what spacing I will
accept and whether rotation is OK, and then pump down prints and
proofs which the printer will process when the chosen printing
interval is up.
IMO job nesting is a feature over and beyond RIP-based ICC color
management. Try looking at it this way, and see if that helps sort
things out a bit.
