EyeOne?
My NDA is up! It's quite cool! It is much like a spectracam in theory. In
practice, it's got some very impressive software driving it. The profiles
I've made are of excellent quality. I find the device is very easy to use in
strip mode. It also (with the last beta) has quite good error detection. The
RGB target I've been testing only requires one to measure 288 patches so in
strip mode, it's super fast. I'm impressed with the package. The EyeOne
Share is a free product that is similar in some respects to X-Rite's
Colorshop whereby you can measure and analyze spectral data. It's modular in
design so new tools will be given away on a regular basis. But users that
don't own the EyeOne but have friends that do can share the data using a new
file format form Gretag. So it's been designed for designers too who need to
share color data for building palettes or who just need to come up with some
information about color outside the computer.
Being that this is indeed a Swiss product, it's appropriate to call the
EyeOne the "Swiss army knife" of Spectrophotometer's.
