version of Profilemaker Pro or if it's something entirely new?
It's based on ProfileMaker. It doesn't have anywhere as many options or
controls. For RGB this only means you have two (Preserve Gray Axis or Paper
Gray). For CMYK, you get "preset" Black generation and ink control with
EyeOne where you get total control with ProfileMaker. I'm not sure (and I
will check with Gretag) but I suspect that when you pick the kind of output
device you hope to profile, the defaults you normally see in ProfileMaker
are used in EyeOne. For what it's worth, in the cases where I've made a CMYK
output profile to offset and didn't have any specifics, the defaults
produced very good results. Of course if you need to specify specific black
generation or total ink, you'll be a candidate for ProfileMaker Pro. Also,
one will soon be able to use the EyeOne instrument inside of ProfileMaker
Pro. So there are plenty of options.
