Hi all,
I had requested an output profile from a publication I am submitting to.
I was surprised when I was actually forwarded a profile for the
press that the publication runs on.
After loading the profile and assigning it as the working profile in
photoshop I proofed the layout in PS and selected the 3Gamut warning
menu selection2. I wasn9t surprised that I would see quite a lot of
out of gamut areas. My normal working profile is for my Iris machine and
the publication is running on a SWOP ..... press.
Once I opened the file under the new profile and Oked the conversion to the
new working profile of course there was zero out of gamut errors.
I wonder how accurate the final out put will be. On my calibrated monitor
I could not discern any difference between the two files. I assume that
the difference between the output correct profile and the older working
profile didn9t effect the on screen versions and or the actual differences
were slight.
I would be interested in input related to this aspect of proofing.
How and why would two files being different in their destination
gamut's display visually the same in an on screen proofing environment?
