I want to hook up two 22" Apple Cinema Displays to one G4 and have them

video card?
Not unless the card has two of those special connectors - as far as I
know there is not such a beast yet.
If so, will they have to share the same display profile, and
will this result in an unreasonable mismatch between the two?
if they did it might - on the other hand they would probably be
fairly similar - should not be necessary though
How would I
do this--is there something like a "Y-connector" for the Apple Display
Connector on the G4 to hook up two monitors at the same time?
you definitely don't want to do this - not that you could find that
kind of cable or connectors
If I have to have them on separate video cards, can I get ColorSync to
allow me to use separate profiles for displaying the same image?
well - ColorSync will allow you to associate a different profile with
each monitor - the apps put them to use.
Will this
be a software problem, in Acrobat 5
I can't speak for Acrobat 5 - I doubt it supports color management on
multiple monitors
and/or Photoshop 6?
Photoshop 6 does support color management on multiple monitors -
it'll even do it if an image is split across the monitors - nice work
Chris Cox and team!
Does ProveIt work well with the Spectrolino and an LCD monitor like the
Apple Cinema Display?
I don't know if the math in Prove-It! is appropriate for LCD work.
You could use GretagMacbeth's ProfileMaker Pro Monitor - it has
unique math for LCD displays
Is there something better?
Probably not - you should be aware of the limitations of color
managing LCD displays - or perhaps more correctly, the limitations of
LCD displays - also, use the LCD display attachment for the 'lino.
Don't get those suction cups anywhere near those screens.
Thanks for feedback on any or all of these questions. I don't want to buy
the displays until I find out if this is a crazy idea or not.
Yes - you would want to know wouldn't you? I think the biggest
stumbling block is a card that will support the additional display.
Then you can drag one monitor icon onto another in the Monitors
control panel and the OS will mirror displays - I'm fairly sure it
will still allow different profiles for each display...
Sounds like an adventure - let us know how it turns out!
