Lately,
I can not confirm that the Quark CMS makes CMY out of
100% K. (used Quark CMS Version 2.1)
I had a chance to print postscript files to a Harlequin-RIP
(originally designed for a Fuji First Proof).
The RIP has the option to print into a CMYK-Tiff and does not
change anything of the color-values. (nice to see who manages what,
or better who does not colormanage)
Inspecting the channels in Photoshop revealed that the black text
is only in the black channel.
