I am new at color management. I am trying to figure
out the best way to implement CMS at my work for a
CreoScitext EverSmart Jazz+ scanner, about 35 Mac
stations(mostly G4s) a Kodak dye sub 9000 and several
Canon Fiery printers. We also want to set up an
accurate in house proofing system simulating
MatchPrint.
We are looking at a 24"HP, a RIP to make it a
postscript printer and Prxi CompassPro XT or an
Imation Color RIP software that simulates MatchPrint
on the HP. We will be proofing QX and PS files.
Here are my questions:
What is the best inkjet printer for the above purpose?
What is the best RIP for the above?
How can I set up the inkjet to proof QX and PS files?
Once I have a CMS system, and a RIP do I need Praxi
CompassPro XT or Imation to simulate MatchPrint?
Is it better to let Imation set up the whole proofing
system on the inkjet?
What is the best way to create profiles for printing
from QX and PS on the Canons?
What is the best scanner, monitor, output CMS profiler
and editor and reading devices(hardware) available? I
am getting overwhelmed by what is available out there.
I have looked at ProfileCity, Gretag, Monaco, Praxi
etc. I would need to have black generation control
for what I need above.
Once I calibrate several monitors, how can I verify
that they look the same other than doing it visualy?
Is there a way to actually read values off the
monitors with a device?
I realize there is a lot to cover. I have studied
about CMS in books, WWW etc.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
