ColorVision OptiCal question

  • Subject: ColorVision OptiCal question

I'm running the OptiCal software on my Mac.

Question: MUST I run the OptiCal program that loads at startup? I find if
I leave it on, I have more crashes on my Mac.

If I go into the OptiCal program, and chose to shut off that autoload
function, then the color of my monitor immediately changes! Even though my
Monitors Control Panel lists the OptiCal created monitor profile as my
default profile.

What gives? Can't I calibrate my monitor, generate a profile, and then shut
off the OptiCal software?

I've combed through the OptiCal pdf manual and don't find any reliable info
on this.
