I want to make fine art prints on uncoated watercolor papers on an Epson
7000 with pigment-based inks, using CMYK to get good blacks. I'm seeking
expert guidance on how to get best results, or at least how to learn
more about CMYK printing and black generation.
I don't (yet) have a RIP for the 7000, so I'm experimenting with an
Epson 3000, using PressReady to print CMYK. I'm using an X-Rite DTP-41
to measure densities and dot-area curves, and ProfilerPro to build CMYK
profiles from DTP-41 swatch data.
I'm looking for tips on testing specific papers before profiling,
although the only "linearization" possible with PressReady is by picking
a media setting. I'd also like tips on setting Photoshop CMYK ink limits
and black generation controls. I know this is complex stuff, so I'd be
happy to get pointers to appropriate books or on-line resources. Thanks!
