gamut compression sending quark to Lambda?

  • Subject: gamut compression sending quark to Lambda?

I recently sent a commercial job out for Lambda printing and gamut was
very squashed. I asked the Lambda operator which colorspace to use,
but he only said, "what's a colorspace?" Since I've successfully used
a Fuji Frontier for similar jobs (fashion "lookbook", 5x7 prints), the
Lambda files were prepared the same way in sRGB/TIFF/300dpi. An
initial test from the Lambda looked quite good, but the final job was
compiled by my client using Quark to include a logo and type. As far
as I know the Quark doc only referenced the TIFF files and they were
unchanged in any way.

Any idea what happened to the gamut? Is there some sort of "merge"
program feeding the Lambda that is somehow the culprit? Or is it
Quark? Which colorspace and dpi is best for printing straight
photography on a Lambda?

Thanks,

Dave King
