My favorite solution to this issue is to profile it as an RGB device

Yes, Steve, I tried *both* RGB and CMYK profiling on this printer ALL ALONG
disabling whathever bits of internal color management conversions the RIP
give the outside world access to such as RGB Source = Off and CMYK
Simulation = None, though the LaserWriter print driver.

I fact, I am geting pretty much the SAME faded colors either way.
What gets me is this: we have a Canon CLC1100 fronted by yet another Fiery
RIP (do not know which version) and, guess what, profiling works marvel on
this baby!!! It's actually a ColorPass something (still a Fiery RIP under
the hood). Go figure. And, if my memory does not fail me, we also profiled
with some good degree of success the predecessor of the Docucolor 4, the LBP
4, still a Xerox printer with yet another flavor of the venerable Fiery RIP!
Was that too much quoting Henrik?
One last thought, how about the "Tektronix" version of that same color laser
printer? Until Tektronix was acquired by Xerox, two years ago, one could buy
a Tecktronix version of that same "box" with the Tektronix brand name on it
and if I remember well, the output colors were very different there? It
could not have been a Fiery RIP inside it -- please?
Thank's everyone.
