It's been about a year and a half since I worked with one, so take that
into consideration. My experience with this scanner's software wasn't
exactly positive in terms of color management. It wasn't obvious how to
configure it, but it would use ICC profiles. I forget exactly how
extensive it was, but I seem to recall that it would use a monitor
profile and a scanner profile only. When saving out the data it would
embed the selected scanner profile into the image. This means we were
using the standalone software, not a plug-in for PhotoShop.
As for export of high-bit data, it was a no go. It used high-bit data
only internally in the software. When saving out images, it saved them
out low-bit. I gave Scitex tech support a hard time about this,
considering $79 scanners have that capability and their $30,000+ scanner
and software couldn't. So perhaps there's been an improvement in this
area - but if not, then I can't say I would recommend such an expensive
piece of equipment.
