I think this is correct. I remember doing a project years ago for Metromedia and
here is the calculation we used.
14" scan @ 300 dpi = 4200 pixels printed @ 10 dpi(billboard) = 35 feet
35mm scanned at 933% = 4200 pixels. effective res = 2800 lines per inch.
That said, the Hell Chromagraph 3900 can take a 35mm (is Kodachrome grainless?)
up 30x (45" @ 300 lpi = 13500 pixels) which is about 9000 lines per inch. A 35 foot
billboard using this scan would net a resolution of 32 dpi. (quite high for a billboard)
