You're right about the Generic CMYK profile, it's not ideal.
You think the ISO 12647-2 would be good? Great, that's the kind of feedback
that's really useful.
Hey, this ICC user group 'task force' thread (who came up with that
military term anyway?) is working. Not bad starting from an ECI
meeting in March and winding up with an Apple decision in December,
considering the scale of these things. Just a couple of hundred hours
... -:).
To avoid confusion now that Apple is listening, this thread is best
treated not as direct e-mail but as editorial prereading. So let's
take this off-line in a prereading cycle between ColorSync Testing,
FOGRA which has the chair of the relevant standards groups, and the
color workflow people within Adobe whose implementations in Photoshop
6, Illustrator 10 and Acrobat 5 are now directly linked to the
'generic' profiles.
I trust Apple marketing will be OK with this approach to the problem
that has existed since Adobe implemented support for the ColorSync
Workflow functionality and for its own part implemented support for
colorimetrically defined standards-based printing.
