Andrew and Neil mentioning specifically using relative intent reminds me of
one of my minor Photoshop complaints.
I use the relative intent far more than perceptual. I build and edit all of
my profiles with relative colorimetric intent set as the default intent. I
usually build profiles in CompassProfile with possible editing in Kodak
Custom Color ICC. I have the conversion option in Photoshop's color prefs
set to relative colorimetric. Even with all of the above, any Photoshop
window where an intent choice is presented always defaults to perceptual.
It will remember my relative setting from one time to the next as long as I
don't change the profile, but as soon as I change to a different profile,
the intent switches back to perceptual. Its frustrating to continually be
changing two pull down menus when in fact I want one to stick on relative
colorimetric and stay put ninety percent of the time. Is this situation a
fact of life or am I missing another setting somewhere?
Bob,
Photoshop should be picking the profile default intent. If you've
really edited all your profiles to make relcol the default, and it's
still switching to perceptual, something is amiss, and you should let
Adobe know.
