The Global Gradation tool modifies the 1-dim. output LUT of the B2A0 tag
(print) or B2A1 tag (proof) independently.
The Dot Gain tool basically does the same and modifies the 1-dim. output
LUTs of the B2A0 tag (print) and B2A1 tag (proof) but also writes the
inverse correction curve into the 1-dim. input LUTs of the A2B0 tag and A2B1
tag (now simultaneously for print and proof).
The normal application of the dot gain correction is to correct your
separation table (B2A0 tag) due to a changed dot gain curve (changed press
output), but the print simulation on the monitor or the hardcopy proof
should not change (A2B1 tag used for this).
The images (proof) were correct before the press changed, so the proof will
not change due to the dot gain correction for the changed press.
