Hey! If you want learn about dull you should read some of my real technical
writing! OBTW: My dad is Mr Lianza, I'm Tom.....
The point I was trying to make was that a lot of variablitiy comes from
sources we often take for granted and more importantly, don't have any
control over. I really miss the guys at RasterOps, Radius and Super Mac.
They were (hopefully still are..) fine engineers that were obsessed with the
analog performance aspects of their cards. In a very large sense, the 3-D
gaming market really has contributed to the degredation of the back end of
the cards. The market is so competitive and the designer has to make trade
offs between polygon speed and Dac depth. In the end the graphic arts
folks get hosed and DOOM runs faster. One big potential hope for the future
is the DVI initiative. That will let us move some of the real quality
issues back onto the display side.
