The output from the HP is very good. The result has a bit more 'inkjet feel'
than the super smooth Epson Photo line. Probably for the better as it
represents a (150 line) screened page better The Rip can be calibrated as
with Bestcolor. In terms of colour the output it is almost identical to that
of Bestcolor in gamut, linearity, and colour. Text is very good , finer than
through an Epson.
Adobe PressReady (lite?) is bundled with the GA. The dithering through
PressReady is great as good as the Quickdraw or GDI drivers. The colours
though are on the side of flattery and prettier than the press page.
Actually one could assume that the output resembles a proof rather than the
press page. There are two big questions though as to the proofing abilities.
There is no choice of outputting non composite black at 100% and the
transforms are colorimetric without a choice of paper white. Also you will
find custom profiling almost impossible in practice. Certainly for speed and
ease of use PressReady was a great RIP for designers. I still use it for
presentation of composite layouts with hi-res images as it gives you that
photo quality with perfectly smooth vector art.
