good to see someone bring this up. i am at a stock photo agency and we
have been recieveing some files from photographers using 6.0 that generate
the message "not compatible with this version of photoshop" when we try
to open them. how is this possibly acceptable to adobe?

Photoshop 6 allows new types of compression to Tiff files that v5 will not
recognize; if you have clients supplying files to you, you should have v6
available to read their files.

I was fortunate enough to have seen one of these files and could not get it to open with PS 5.5 or 6.0. It was a Quicktime JPEG file. Technically this is a problem and I am sure I do not have the complete picture on this issue. But at this point this does not look like an Adobe problem. The problem originates with the application that the file came from. It would be nice if some one from Adobe could say a few words about the issues around opening a Quicktime JPEG file. This file does open in the QT Picture viewer but not in PS .Is there a way to open a file like this in Photoshop?
