good morning - - - - -
We are seeing long thin (usually one pixel wide) lines
appearing in tiff images after converting
from scanner-specific rgb to CIE Lab,
or from CIE Lab to our printer-specific CMYK.
Usually only one line per file,
often the line is dark relative to the image it's in,
but switching to light if it happens to cross
a particularly dark area in the image.
Sometimes the colors of the line appear to be a negative
the original colors, but not always.
The line does not necessarily run the full width of the image.
It happens perhaps to perhaps 1 out of 10 files we convert.
We are seeing this in images from more than one brand of scanner,
and conversions done on different G4 Macs running Photoshop 5.5.
The conversion is done using (a very slightly modified) version
of John Gnaegy & David Hayward's Recursive Embedder AppleScript.
The flaw can go undetected by someone viewing the file
from within Photoshop if the magnification
they happen to be viewing the image at
averages out the line on the display,
it being usually only one pixel wide.
(It does print out real nice though.)
Has anyone here experienced similar symptoms?
