Hacked by whom or what? The driver/RIP? The CM/ICC profiler? The user?

The RIP or driver does this, after the color correction via CMYK ICC profile
is already done. I just built matching CMYK ICC profiles for an Epson 3000
(CMYK printer) and a 1200 (CcMmYK printer) using the same software and the
same spectro, and the only visible difference is the reduced visibility of
dots at viewing distances of less than three feet with the 1200, and a
slightly different gamut limit in the different ink sets. Within the
available gamut, and from over three feet, the prints are identical.
