Greetings.
I have been using the FJ-500 since september last year and it's been very
easy to handle
with regards to color management. However, make sure you are getting the
right media.
Roland profiles, Roland media. The equation is pretty much the same
with every printer: the manufacturer provides profiles for their
preferred stock.
I used a certain media for some time and got a good soft proof from
photoshop but later when
I changed brand on media, even though the media looks the same, I got a
different result.
Logically speaking yes they should have difference because I only use the
pre-supplied
ICC profiles from Color Choice.
I notice the profiles provided with the HJ500 are much more exacting
than previous ones provided for the HJ50/CJ500 printers. If all you
need is Roland media, and the canned profiles are good enough, then
great. But Roland's stock is expensive, limited in selection (though
they have come out with a nice art paper this year), and other
manufacturers seem to be rolling out the variety demanded by many
clients. In the case of third party medias, one has to profile their
own. The canned profiles I've found on the web from third party
manufacturers don't seem to do the trick.
And yes, I agree, it is nice color.
