I was recently looking at 2 people's computers on which OS 9.0.4 and PS

resulting profile in both places. What is the purpose or proper use of
that Generic RGB profile?
It is created by ColorSync, presumably from numbers internal to the
extension itself. If you move or delete it, ColorSync will recreate
it (That's why we don't let you disable it in ColorThink - you would
just keep creating copies of it). ColorSync uses it when there is no
other RGB profile set or no RGB profile available.
I have yet to test it to see how it compares (what it might be based
on).... hang on.....
Well, in graphing and inspecting in ColorThink it looks like the
gamut is similar in size and shape to ColorMatch RGB - but not the
same. One of the most notable differences is that the Generic RGB
profile has a high - 9600 Kelvin white point. I think it's fair to
say it would not normally be used in a well-constructed workflow.
