I think Ed is right on the money here, Nikon has the best color neg scanner
software on the planet, and it's fast (not to mention easy:). I'm sure they
perfected this for their many photojournalist clients. I get good results
with transparencies too, but negs are often so close as to need no further
correction to speak of. Nikon's canned profile is excellent also, said to be
a result of the consistency of Nikon's LED light source. Nikon also has a
4000dpi 35 to 6x9 medium format scanner coming out soon. Judging by current
models, it'll be a killer.
