Or is it normal behaviour of adobe rgb?
This is the "normal" behaviour of Adobe RGB. I've seen the same kind of thing;
certain greens, typically, are indistinguishable from one another on the
screen, even if they're space fairly far apart as RGB values.
Here's a nifty trick that may put working-space vs monitor gamut into
a slightly clearer light.
We all now know and are grateful for Adobe building RGB proofing into
Photoshop 6. This finally allows us to simulate output to the other
half of the world's devices, all those inkjets and Lambda's etc.
What may not be evident is you can also make a proofing setup for your monitor.
Why? Gamut warning. Try this:
- View:Proof Setup:Custom...
- Choose your monitor profile
- do not preserve color numbers
- relative colorimetric intent
save as a proof setup
Now, if you are curious if the working space contains image colors
that are outside the gamut of your monitor (and are then clipped),
select your proof setup and turn on the gamut warning. All colors
outside of your monitor gamut will be highlighted.
(I have cross-posted this to Epson Inkjet and the ColorSync list at
the risk of suffering the wrath of the anti-cross-posters)
