That's right, the assignation of a matrix-based (as of a LUT-based)
profile does not pixel convert. The conversion pixel converts. That's
the fine print in the conversion contract at the bottom of the page.
But the first line of the first clause in the color space conversion
contract reads, 'RGB land is matrix land, and if you are out of
gamut, you are out of luck' -:).
