Epson's line on metamerism with the 5500 and 10000 is that because of the
smaller, variable droplet size, there is less metamerism.
Perhaps if one of the list members has a 2000P and also a 5500 or 10000
they could print the same image on both and let us know what difference
in metamerism, if any, they see.
The 5500 takes pigment ink only.
As for the 10000, here's the deal-
The printer must be purchased for either dye or pigment use - NOT both.
The printer's starter set of inks has a chip on each ink tank which
program the machine for the rest of it's life.
Changing from one ink type to another involves a field service
appointment
and about SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS.
So 1. decide up front which ink system suits your needs best and
2. check the starter set of inks that arrive with your printer to make
certain that you got the
ink type that you ordered.
I'm sure that at some point someone will get the wrong type of inks and
load them.
Don't let it be you!
