I have purchased a HP 5000, Monaco Proof, Wasatch and Ony Postershop.
After having read (browsed) the manuals I am surprised to see the
absence of a simple "how-to" in this documentation.
The first thing that has befuddled me is the linearization process.
The solid ink densities are considerably off from what we'd expect in
CMYK printing.
2.09 cyan for example.
How much effort should I put forth to adjust the solid ink densities to
be more like what would be normal? I'm noticing the color patches for
Monaco are very dark on the last 4 images of their patches. Almost
black.
The linearization process seems to just make the scale linear at
whatever density it is. If I printed a "standard" 4C image at those
densities, it is considerably off.
I know my terms "normal" and "standard" are loosely defined. I am
selecting them from the vantage point of CMYK color lithographic
printing as is commonly found in commerical printing shops. I don't want
to use the term SWOP because few commerical printers I have worked for
really tried to adhere to SWOP.
