Jeff,

This is neither a slam on ProfileDoctor Pro or your profile generation
software. Hopefully my point won't get lost in the haste to prove me wrong
about a product or theory.

Linearize your printer so it prints a nuetral gray and make a new profile.
Profile editors are best used to make good profiles better for a specific
scenario not to make bad profiles good. It sounds to me the way you defined
your black that your profile is not very good.
