This is a little off-topic, but with such a diverse group of color
management experts I'm hoping some of you may have a bit of experience to
share on this. We've been using the X-Rite Digital Swatchbook to read carpet
samples and use those RGB values in our color-managed workflow to simulate
the colors on-press. We're using the Colorshop software, which seems to be
at least somewhat ICC aware and compliant.
What we'd like is a device that reads color on carpet samples even more
accurately. The Swatchbook is about 80-85% accurate on first readings. We'd
like to find a device that is more like 99% accurate on first readings. One
device we're looking at is the Minolta CS-2600 spectrophotometer.
Does anyone in the group have experience reading carpet or other textured
textile samples with a high degree of accuracy? We'd prefer the hardware
include software similar to Colorshop, or even something more ICC compliant.
Any replies off-line would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
