more on Profile Editing Thoughts

This is less of a rant and more of a question...

If I am finding it necessary (read "all of the time') to edit profiles for
more accurate proofs, which should I edit? I have created a profile of my
iProof printer on the media that we use, and I plug that into my "printer
profile" menu in our RIP. Our "target profile" is the profile of our IRIS
2PRINT (also a profile we created). The colors don't match...a lot more
yellow on the iProof. Do I edit the target profile or the printer profile?
Both? Call a consultant? Only joking, of course. (Please...no unsolicited
e-mails from color management consultants =:o) ). I'm sure many other
people are running into this exact situation and would like a little
clarification.
