I am new to the forum, but I would like to know how I could apply a yellow
paper tint to my profile.
We are using the Gretag Macbeth Profile Maker 3.1 software, and we are
trying to make a profile to match our Iris 4-Print to our Matchprint.
We are
getting close to a match but we see the lacking factor in our match is the
differences in bases between Matchprint and Iris.
I have tried to use the Absolute Colorythmic rendering in the profile
options in Profile Editor 3.1 and tried to edit the white point, this just
seemed to flatten the Iris out and did not give us the desired effect we are
looking for.
It looks like you have a conceptual problem.
Are you trying to make the Iris simulate the MatchPrint? In this
case, the white point of the MatchPrint profile (and you aren't
saying you have made a profile for the MatchPrint) will be
represented in the white of the Iris media, if you go from RGB to
CMYK with the MatchPrint profile with Perceptual, and from MatchPrint
profile to Iris profile with Absolute Colorimetric. For page proofs
you are going to need iQueue for this. You can download the short
iQueue manual from the GM site.
If you are not simulating the MatchPrint on the Iris, but trying to
turn the Iris into a MatchPrint as it were, then you need to do load
MatchPrint-like paper and inks.
The white point of your Iris profile would be used to simulate the
Iris print on another printing system. It does not come into play
when you convert from RGB to Iris CMYK, which I think is what you are
looking to do, that is, your RGB to CMYK conversion is meant to look
like the press run, and you aren't doing an RGB to offset CMYK to
proofer CMYK conversion.
