I am having trouble setting up a profile for a cmyk printer to print any 4
color (CMYK) process black as black only (K only). Is this a GRC/UCR issue or
is there another way of doing this??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what type of printer, RIP, driver, etc...

If your printer is and inkjet and uses stochastic or diffusion screening then you are near out of luck, though you can do close approximations with certain types of RIPs using GCR. If you are discussing a laser or thermographic or other then it depends on your RIP and how you print to that RIP.
