hi again
ive been using kami SMF 2001 for over a year and a half
and i cant complain about anything. i mount everything in it
no matter how small, everything is cleaner and no newton rings, no powder
crap
i have even mounted scratched reflectives in it with excellent results .
clean up is a easy as long as you use the kami tape, the 3m tape leaves to
much residue
on the drum that is not easy to get off.as for enlargements i go up as far
as 7500%
no problem, but i do use a good quality mylar.garbage in garbage out so i
tend to go for quality stuff.
as far as profiled scanners and scanner operators not being craftsmen, there
arent many of us left
and when you have tight deadlines and many scans having a less experienced
operator inputing
raw rgbs it give you a saftey net to fall back on.and higher consistant
matching of originals,
down side is bad original, bad scan so the experienced operator can catch
raw rgb and correct
in rgb convert to cmyk and your off and running, no rescan, sounds good to
me.
and having a archived rgb can save you from time to time.
i have been a production scanner operator for many years, so yes it does
seem like craftsmenship
is going out the window, just like it has in all of prepress.
good dot etchers, scanner operators, strippers are a thing of the past,
what can you do, cant stay in the past, so enbrace this colormanegment stuff
and
go for it.or you will be left in the dust.
sorry just had to vent, been working to much, see my last post
later got to go mount some scans
