Jazz or Imacon??

Our school's Digi-Photo and Graphics department is looking to replace an
aging Leafscan45 with a faster "as good or better" scanning solution for
film (negs and transparencies - 35mm - 4x5").

Right now the Leaf45 is a "log jam" and cannot keep up with the number
of folks who need scans. We're considering an Imacon Precision II or an
Eversmart Jazz.

The question is: How are flatbeds like the Jazz for film scanning? I like the
idea that the Jazz can scan numerous originals at the same time. But
there's expressed fears that a flatbed scanner cannot really compete with
dedicated film scanners (Newton rings etc..).

Any first hand experiences would be very helpful.

Thanks :-)
