Fujichrome in general has a magenta midtone bump which is seen more by the scanner than by eye. Once the Fujichrome scan is produced, the midtone numbers are always better when converted through a Fuji specific profile.
During PMA a very good discussion regarding this phenominon was described by a Kodak engineer. I was glad to have both confirmation from another individual and illustration that color management is truly the practise of training bits of hardware and software to "see" the way the human eyes perceive color.
While one can not account for all flavors of a manufacturer's media, the Fuji targets that I have produced create a significantly better range of color accuracy, separation and detail, than that which is achieved when applying the Ekta profile to Fuji stock.
I use the Fuji produced IT8 as my benchmark.

one can really only use the Fuji with correlation to Fuji film scans.
Why? Is the then the same with Kodak IT8's (you use them only for Kodak
films)? What about all the various flavors of FujiChrome (let alone all the
different emulsions)? Does the one Fuji target work in these cases?
